The Chinese Labor Convention was held at Memphis,
Tennessee, July 13, and called together a large number of prominent men from all parts of
the South. A number of Chinamen have already been introduced to the South, and the
planters are exceedingly well pleased with them. They are not only patient and faithful
workers, but they seem well adapted to the climate and industries of the South.
